Abstract

The pressuring demand of Romanian research to align to the main stream of the worldwide research community determined the Romanian Ministry of Education to launch several types of research grants.

According to this generous offer, our team has applied for and won three research grants. The first two grants were dedicated to the first episode of schizophrenia, the third one to the vocational reinsertion of mental ill persons. Besides, the tremendous pressure of time, and minimal scientific competencies, running a grant demands managing and financial abilities as well. We shall describe the pro’s and con’s of running research grants in Romania.

Conclusion: despite the fact that the pressure on the team is quite high, the results concerning solid equipment, know-how, complex data-base and quoted publications encourage us to continue this difficult and demanding task.
